Bath Thermometer

Our bath thermometer

I am one of those people who likes her bath water hot. I know that it's said that having too hot a bath isn't good for you but I'm afraid unless the water isn't steaming and I go a shade of pink when submerged in it, then it's not an enjoyable bath.

Of course when it comes to bathing your little uns it's crucial that you ensure the water is just so- not too hot, not too cold. The lovely midwives at the hospital were very helpful giving us a demo of how to bath our little Lily and check the temperature of the water but for my hubbie and I dipping our elbows in didn't seem the most scientific way to check. Not when there are a host of bath thermometers on the market to assist you in this!!

This bath thermometer (from a company called BosieBoo) was actually a gift from Lily's Nanny but I've seen plenty online and in the shops and as with most baby products, prices do seem to vary. To my mind, as long as it does the job then there really isn't much justification in buying one for a lot of money just because it's in the shape of a fish or duck (it's not like your bubba is going to play with it or anything!)

I would imagine the majority of bath thermometers on the market follow the same principle as ours. Basically you turn the unit and then submerge it in the bath to get a reading of the water temperature. When the thermometer has settled on a reading, it flashes to tell you what the water temperature is. If it falls between 30 and 39 degrees centigrade then it is optimum temperature for your bubba.

A simple little unit but I would say an essential piece of kit when bathing babies.
