Given to Lily as a 'welcome to the world' gift, this bug phone rattle - affectionately known as 'Mr Bee Bee' (everything has to have a name, don't you know and most things are Mr/Mrs something!) - was pretty much an instant hit with Lily. She seemed instantly attracted to its colourful and musical buttons and the fact the bee's tentacles light up along with the music.
In the early days, we had to hold the toy and activate the various tunes but as Lily has become more alert and her ability to grab and hold things has developed, she now happily plays with the toy by herself, sometimes turning it around to admire her reflection in the little mirror (inherits her mother's vanity, me thinks!).
In addition to the musical little red buttons and nose, the toy has four coloured beads attached to a green loop which can be moved around by baby. I wouldn't go as far as to say that these beads 'rattle' so I'm not quite sure why the M&S website (where the toy was purchased from) refers to it as such. It's not a rattle in the traditional sense at all.
As much as Lily enjoys the sound element of Mr Bee Bee she has found another, unanticipated use for it. Despite rejecting pretty much every teether we have purchased for her, she loves to put the green loop section in her mouth and gnaw away on it!
An inexpensive toy that has been worth every penny! The only thing I wish is that it had an off button. We once travelled to friends with the toy constantly going off as it had got jammed in between something in the car. Very annoying!! Why don't toys like this have an on/off button. It would make so much sense!
