The First Years Nature Sensations Sleep Positioner
As I have mentioned in other reviews we were blessed with a very wriggly baby. I suppose we should have expected it from the amount she wriggled, rather than kicked, inside me!
Like any new Mum I was worried about how much Lily would wriggle in her sleep and while the use of sleeping bags removed the concern of Lily pulling blankets over herself, there remained the worry that she might roll over in her sleep. In the confines of her Moses basket she was less prone to rolling but when we moved her into the crib it became all too apparent that we would need to buy a sleep positioner to combat the problem. As I have reviewed elsewhere the first sleep positioner we purchased did the job until Lily started to get bigger and outgrow her crib.
Her new sleeping space - the lovely big cot bed - was deserving of a new positioner. Ideally I was on the look out for one with slightly bigger boulders than the first one, as Lily had managed to work out how to free the original ones from their velcro housing and then throw them around the crib!!
This sleep positioner appealed on two levels. Firstly, the boulders did indeed look bigger. Secondly, I liked the fact that it was a little more colourful than the original one. Oh and of course the price point was pretty good too!!
Both boulders attach to the central strip with a simple but relatively strong velcro fastening (less chance of Lily pulling them off!) and feature colourful animal heads. The boulders themselves obviously serve to provide the necessary support while also being made of a material which allows free air flow.
I have to be totally honest here and admit that while Lily did stay within the confines of the positioner when we first moved her into her cot bed, that can't be said now. While we continue to duly put her within the boulders every bedtime, she clearly moves around in the night because I go in in the morning and invariably find her at the other end of the cotbed. I wonder now whether they are serving more of an aesthetic purpose than functional. They look pretty, if nothing else!!
