Hooded Towels
I can still remember the first bath we gave our little Lily. She hated it! The poor wee thing cried from start to finish and built up to a real crescendo when we took her out and her little body went from being in the warm water to the ambient temperature of our flat. It was action stations to get her wrapped up as soon as possible. Which is why hooded towels are such a winner. Wrapping Lily in the towel and popping the hood over her head she was soon comforted from the 'ordeal' of the bath, all snuggled in mummy's arms.
Fast forward a few months and Lily now cries when we take her out of the bath because she enjoys bath-time so much! Now she is able to sit up unaided she will happily splash around in the bubbles, playing with her bath toys. The quicker we can get her out and calm her down by enveloping in in one of her lovely towels, the better!!
Obviously as Lily has got bigger, we have had to buy bigger towels for her but with all the principle is the same. The head of the towel, where the hood is, comes in to a point so the towel is able to come in on itself and cocoon the baby inside.
Lily's favourite hooded towel is one given to her by her Nanny. It's a lovely pink colour and has a big Hippo's head as the hood. She looks so cute all snuggled up in it!
It's worth having a few in the airing cupboard as then you always have a few to hand. On more than one occasion, Lily has decided to wee all over her hooded towel when I have laid her down to get her dressed. There have also been a few times where she has been a little sick on the towel. Luckily the towels wash and dry relatively quickly.
We took a few of Lily's hooded towels on holiday with us and in addition to using them when she had her baths, we also found them invaluable when it came to going on the beach or in the swimming pool. As this was to be her first experience of both it was good to be able to snuggle her in her favourite towel after she had braved the sea or pool!!
