Oilatum Bath Emollient
Because Lily has sensitive skin, prone to breakouts of exzema, the doctor advised against using bubble baths – even those described as designed with babies in mind. Instead our doc prescribed Oilatum Emollient to use at bathtimes.
Oilatum is a runny milky lotion and you add a little to the baby's bath water and then swirl it around. It doesn't bubble like normal bubble bath; just turns the water a milky colour.
Be warned, this lotion makes baby very slippery so when you get her out be very careful. Before Lily was a bit more 'solid' we would bath her together for extra precaution. Also be aware that if you empty the baby's bath water into your big bath or if you are actually bathing baby in the big bath that this also ends up slippery. I discovered this almost to my peril and now make sure that both Lily's bath and mine get a good clean after bathtime to avoid any potential accidents!
This emollient can be very expensive to buy so it's worth seeing if your GP will prescribe it!!
