SMA Progress
When Lily passed the six month point and we had her on solids as well as milk we decided to move her on from SMA Gold milk to SMA Progress as this has been created to complement the weaning process.
To begin with we used the cartons of Progress, as we had done with Gold but soon became aware that we needed to 'wean' Lily off cartons and onto the dry formula because, quite frankly, the cartons were costing a small fortune! You would assume that one would be the same as the other but Lily seemed to notice the difference and would often reject her bottle if it was made from dry formula while gulping it down if it was carton.
Thankfully she finally accepted the change and now, at just over nine months, still enjoys her milk as much as her food. Obviously she now requires less feeds a day which saves us a few pennies (baby milk is not cheap).
To speed making feeds up, I tend to portion up the feed I will need for the next couple of days in handy milk dispensers. If I am visiting friends or family it is also much easier to take a few dispensers rather than the whole bulky tin.
I do still tend to revert to cartons if we are out and about for the day as it's easier to pack a couple of cartons and sterilised bottles. I just pour out the amount required - pretty much a whole small carton - and then get the milk warmed up a little to take the edge off of it.
