VTech First Steps Baby Walker - Pink
At the time of writing this (Sept 09) this is Lily's latest toy and was an absolute must purchase for me having witnessed the fun she had playing with this toy at her cousin's house.
I'm proud to say that I managed to pick it up at a well known superstore (the one where the advert shows a worker patting his/her back pocket!) for some £12 less than another well known baby store wanted for it! Result!
As Lily is now crawling and desperate to be up on her feet, this toy is perfect for her. She crawls towards it to explore the activity centre which is packed with exciting features, and then often gets up onto her knees and then feet. Admittedly she needs a helping hand to steady herself when on her feet and she can take a few tentative steps by pushing it forward only with us holding on to her a bit but she'll get there!
Easy to assemble without the need for any tools - my kind of toy! - it meant Lily didn't have to watch Mummy and Daddy fiddling around with instruction manuals and missing screws! All we had to do was insert batteries into the back of the activity panel to bring it to life.
The activity panel - which is detachable so it can be played when laid flat on the floor, sofa or on mummy's lap - offers babies a variety of activities, from learning the first numbers, letters and colours through to twisting, turning and rolling coloured wheels. Opening the butterfly wings activates the musical elements within the panel, whereas when closed the unit teaches little uns their abc and one, two threes! In addition there is a cute little puppy which when pressed activates a 'puppy says' game. Lily has just mastered clapping so loves it when puppy says clap! The keys on the keyboard also light up in either mode. Last but by no means least there is a removable rattle phone. Lily uses it less as a pretend phone and more as something to bash the activity panel with!
Musical toys are fun for kids but often drive their parents to insanity and I am sure the various little tunes and noises that this baby walker emits will send us doolaley eventually but for the time being I am enjoying watching Lily get pleasure from playing with the toy. Seeing her eyes dot around the unit, taking in the different buttons to push and play with is such a delight. And if this walker helps her feel more confident on her feet then it's worth putting up with the noise!!
